SDG 8 aims to encourage sustained economic growth by achieving higher levels of productivity and through tech- nological innovation. Promoting policies that encourage entrepreneurship and job creation are key to this Goal, as are effective measures to eradicate forced labour, slav- ery and human trafficking. The goal is to achieve full and productive employment, and decent work, reduce informal employment and the gender pay gap and promote safe and secure working environments for all women and men by 2030.
The Government Initiative, Startup India, aims to help Indian entrepreneur and Micro Units Development and Refinance Agency (MUDRA) ensures loans at low rates proving helpful in providing credit to MSMEs. Several structural reforms have been taken for sustainable economic growth and productive employment. The number of patents granted has been regularly increasing.
There are 12 targets under this Goal to ensure decent work for all and economic growth of the societies. A total of 26 indicators have been identified at national level to measure and monitor the progress of the goal.
